“ Come and have breakfast”
About us
The Old Bank Café is owned by a registered charity: Duffield and Little Eaton Trust for Gospel Ministry. The Trust has decades of experience in support and caring for our community. Over the years, there has been a particular emphasis on supporting services for families and young people. This vision remains close to the heart of this project. In partnership with another local charity and the parish church, this project seeks to bring life and restoration to this historic site. There has been a growing sense of brilliant local facilities in the village and we believe that we can play are part in expanding this. The Old Bank Café project has also been done in full consultation and engagement with the local community NS has been met with great excitement... even local news coverage.
“Nourish & Flourish”
The cafe's tagline reflects our vision for the impact of our cafe. First, we will provide high-quality, affordable food and beverages in a welcoming, caring, and thriving environment. We will do this through locally sourced, healthy produce from well-established community suppliers who engage the whole Duffield community. This nourishment forms the foundation of an environment in which all levels of the village can come together and belong. The church is passionate about food and drink, not only the quality of the products themselves but also the ethos that accompanies them. The sharing of life, in all its forms and everything that goes with it. From tea and cake to hearty meals shared amongst new and old friends.
This recognises the interconnectedness between nourishment and flourishing. We long to see all members of our parish flourish in life. With solid connections, friendships, relationships, and time. A space in which we can be, think and share. It is also a space to explore and discuss the challenges of life. To seek together the transformation which many of us long for, in a place that can be owned together.
Furthermore, we plan to use the cafe as a foundation for jobs and training for those who need it most. Partnering with well-established charities in the area to help support those into work and staying in work, seeking to overcome significant barriers to taking steps forward in life.
Finally, the joy of partnering with the church on this project lies in the well-established work with young children and families. From youth and children's programs to toddler groups, the church has a strong history of supporting those in the early stages of life. The cafe presents a significant step forward in the potential of these services to grow and increase their impact upon those who would benefit from it, with the space available for young families during the day and after-school kids in the afternoon. It also has the potential to be a great evening venue for similar opportunities.
